Hey guys! Curious as to what you think of my latest shot. Not too much PP on this one. C&C would be great!

ISO 100, 20 mm, f/8.0, 1/1600 sec

Thank you!

I really like this, the color of the sky is awesome and the sun flare sets the picture well! Great job!

I've been in a photoshopping mood this evening..

The shadows make this a good candidate for a black and white conversion. It could use a little cropping and some dodging around the horse trailer (it's dark there, almost no detail). Using a red filter effect when converting to black and white will darken the blues in the sky, giving a dramatic look. Here's what I came up with.

If the intended subject was the poles' shadows, the sun flare and eye-catching deep blue sky were taking attention away from the subject. Just my .02 $

Reznap! Wow! That looks reallly great! I don't know what I'm doing with my editing but I really like that! Thank you!

And thank you Undo :D

I also agree that it would look good in B&W, though the bright blue sky is excellent in the origional. If you are going to crop it, don't crop if too tightly like what reznap did. Try to keep the ends of the shadows in the frame, it makes viewing more interesting and pleasant. But of course, thats just my personal opinion. :)

The original is just a mess. Sorry if that's blunt, but ... nothing works together. What is the subject? Too much sky, subjects too small, too dark, etc.

The edit is good, but there's only so much that can be done.

Need to work on simplifying your photos.

I agree with everything you said! I absolutely love reznap's edit, much better than my own. But my only fault about it was cutting off the fence post's shadow, as that was my favorite part of the composition.

Ok thank you! I thought the trailer was a pretty blatant subject, but not in my own edit as its to dark. Any advice on how you would have approached this shot? Thanks :)

I didn't cut it off, I cropped up to its edge. It's neither positioned well nor dominant enough to be the subject of the photo. It is, however, a good leading line. Letting it run to the edge of the frame strengthens it, imo. Your subject here, like it or not, is the horse trailer. Even when uncropped and obscured by shadow, it's the most interesting part of the photo.

Alright I see what you mean. Honestly, when I was standing there composing the picture I thought both the trailer and the shadow leading toward the sun would both be good "subjects." Obviously that didn't work for white and probably a lot of others.

I don't know that I would have taken the shot, which I realize is pretty crap advice. But the only thing that interests me in your photo is the rim-light on that trailer and how it separates it from the tree. I might have got close to that trailer and made a pic about that light. Who knows.

Even the shadows don't look interesting from where the picture was taken. <shrug>
