My sister wanted the honest truth on her first true (photography) so I told her I would post them up here for here. She used my E500 and kit lens.

I really like 1 as well the other two not so much

I think the first picture is great.

I like the first one (but it should be straightened), but I also like the last one. There's something sort of quirky about the scene that works for my eye. Very nice. The middle one doesn't do anything for me.

i like number 1, if i were taking the shot i would have gotten a little closer to the fence thing.

It could be my computer, but it looks as if #1 is a bit over saturated and needs a slightly straighter horizon line.

#2 I would reposition so you can't see underneath of the car and can see more poles

#3 I like it. The photo has such a lonely yet not depressing feeling, but i find it humorous that it's an ice cream truck; the ice cream truck just lightens the mood of empty desolate road.

Overall I like all three.

1) I agree that the horizon is tilted ever so slightly. For future reference I think a shot like this would benefit from a polarizing filter. Another thing to keep in mind is that putting the horizon right in the middle of the shot generally makes for a less interesting shot, though here I like the placement.

2) I really like that she got down low for the unconventional perspective. Trying to change the angle to eliminate the car's undercarriage ( or add more of the pole) would diminish the effect of the perspective. It may have benefitted from some fill flash (or better yet some reflected light) since this side of the car is in shadow (due to the backlighting, which I like).

3) My favorite of the three. I really like the composition here - placing the horizon low, placing the ice cream truck low and to the side. I also like that the truck is on the right, as though it's ready to leave the frame, rather than on the left as though it just entered the frame. Very well done.

I'd have to agree with studio7four. The first shot is a bit off on the color. I like the fence and it doesn't matter that it's off center. I think they call it perspective photography and I'm very partial to it. The second shot also had a great perspective but I would like to have seen the whole fishing rod and some color. I love the third shot. She hit the rule of thirds almost right on and while the subject is not very exciting the color is excellent. The putty like color of the sand is nicely contrasted with the blue ocean and sky. When you hit the colors just right it doesn't always matter if the subject is that great.

I like number one and number three. And kudos to her for seeing something a little differently than normal with number two.

#1 is awesome.
#2, I like, but the bus needs to be a bit more to the left.

I like both pictures... the second one I think the colors are great...
