Posting Images Vs Sharing Links

I've been posting images to this site rather than sharing. Any opinions on linking vs posting? I've noticed that most use Flicker for sharing, and relatively few using Google and MS Cloud. Between Google and MS I already have a substantial amount of online storage. Are there any reasons for opening a Flicker account rather than utilizing what I already have?

Though I have a Flickr account I rarely use it.
I use Photobucket to host images I put here on TPF.
