Powershot G10

Hi,

I am a novice here, probably one of the youngest too. I love photography and I don't want just stop at a level of shooting photos for family during vacation or other events. I kinda one to be serious into photography.

So a person just bought me a Powershot G10. He is a pro photographer.

What is your opinion on this G10 ? How do you compare it with a D-SLR ? Does it have enough features to be a serious camera ?

1) you got it for free
2) it works
3) it takes pictures
4) its a camera
5) its free
6) who cares other peoples opinions if you enjoy it and learn.

The G10 is an excellent camera....

If I said it was an awful camera, would it make a difference????

I've used a G9 that belongs to a friend and it's hands-down the best non-dslr camera (it's not really a point and shoot) that i've used. It's got manual controls that are actually useable in a small camera. I would buy one if I wasn't saving for certain other lenses.. the G10 supposedly improves on the G9, so I think you should be set unless you feel like you need interchangeable lenses or something.
