Hiya
This is my first post and I hope its in the right place.
Having been a point and shooter now for a good few years I want to move on and become more creative. I'm sure this forum will help as it looks like there are loads of great and helpful photographers here.
My question is, do I need to buy myself a cheap Dslr or will the powershot s3 that I have be ok to learn on? I am thinking that it will, as it has most of the manual controls that a dearer camera has. I've had it for 4 years and just used it in Auto or P mode. The photos are ok and I have had compliments about them from folk, but I know I am not doing anything apart from pointing and shooting.
I also have a Samsung camera S1065 which is fantastic for close ups, but having had that for a few years I have just discovered that it can be controlled manually! so I'll be messing with this in the future.
So after that ramble, should I stick with the Powershot for a while and get the basics under my hat, or should I just sell it and put the money towards a cheapish DSLR?
