I apologize if either of these photos offend anyone. So with that said.. I saw there have been a few maternity shoots posted in a row lately so here is mine. I would love some feed back on these photos. I placed her in front of a hallway and put a white fabric to close off the hallway. I placed one AB 1600 down the hallway and popped that off and I placed a AB w/beauty dish to light her from the front. I was kinda going for a high key effect. Well any feed back is appreciated. thanks.

C&C per req:

1. A nice shot, and a clever approach to the lighting. It's high-key-esque, but doesn't really make IMO, due to the fact that there's no frontal lighting. I think a reflector to bring some of the light onto her face and brighten her eyes would have helped.

2. To be honest, I'm not overly fond of this. The hair running down the centre of her chest seems rather out of place, and you've got some way too hot highlights in the belly area.

Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

I have to agree with tirediron on the first shot...some frontal lighting would really have helped. Perhaps to compensate, you could add some digital fill-lighting, then bump up the contrast a bit??? Still, her eyes will be dull and sparkle-free, but it might look a bit better that way,with a bit more of a brighter look to her face. In color, this would look one way. As-shown in B&W, her face seems too dark in relation to the background's pure white value.

Second shot...I dunno...I'd give it a passing grade. I like the way the belly button is lighted--it has a nifty highlight on it. The headless nature of the shot though is somewhat unsettling to me...it just seems odd not to have the woman's head in the shot, but, as part of a "set", I suppose it would work as a detail shot.

I agree, there should have been some soft front lighting on the first. I also think she should have lifted her chin just a tiny bit; this would have shortened her nose and the shape of her face, which (like mine) is on the long side.
The second seems a bit magenta on my monitor and, again agreed, the hot spot on the belly is a bit annoying, but it's a decent image. I don't really have an issue with the hair-it separates the arm from the body.

1. Is a great shot I think. Composition is spot on. This might be a great color photo.

2. The lower half of the photo kinda ruins the shot. In image 1 you can see the curve or her butt and its a nice curve and finishes off the legs. But in this image the yellow sheet cuts off her butt making her body shape kinda strange. I don't think the hair is as big of a deal though.

All fair CC's In the first photo I did light her from the front but I kinda wanted the lighting from behind to dominate the image. I was going for a high key-ish kinda feel to it. The second shot is becoming more popular by the minute but thats just my opinion. I put them up so I could get everyones input and adjust for the next time. Thanks for the CC"s
