Why do my photos come out so much darker when I have them printed? They look really good on my monitor but when printed look crappy. Any info would be appreciated.

You probably just need to get a colorimeter to calibrate your monitor, and maybe your printer too.

Depends on the quality of a printer. Each printer is not calibrated the same. If you use the same printer, just realize you may have to increase exposure or calibrate your monitor and printer..,already stated. If I print from Walgreens, okay prints, print from camera business even better or print from my husband's job (printing company) excellent prints. Good luck!

Your computer display is likely to bright (gamma adjustment).

Like Buckster suggested, you need to calibrate your display, regularly. Tutorials on Color Management & Printing

If you are sending the photo out to be printed you can also plug the ICC profile for the machine that is making the print into image editing software to 'soft-proof' the print so you get to see on your display a good approximation of what the print will look like.
