I just got a Canon 50d and am trying to minimize the effect of some LCD discoloration. Googling this didn't result in much help. I already tried the usual lens wiping stuff. Am thinking about using rubbing alcohol in case this is residue from something.

What kind of discoloration?
Can you up a pic of it?

I will try to post a pic this evening. Part of the problem is I don't know what this is. The original owner didn't remember either.

Note: Be EXTREMELY careful with various solvents and chemicals on the sensors and lcd screens.
Depending on the plastic on the cover, it can wind up causing alot of grief.

Thanks for that warning. Maybe I should hold off on using rubbing alcohol. Wish I knew if this is a streak of residue from something or some other problem. I am starting from ground zero in cleaning this up - meaning zero knowledge base yet working with a budget that doesnt allow for error.

Soft cloth is always the best.

That looks like age to me, but I would let a few folks chime in first.
There may not be much you can do about that. unless it looks like a coating.
That plastic BTW, you will want to use a soft rag with NO iso alcohol. That'll kill the plastic screen.
Same thing with methanol and other assorted fermented liquids.

Looks sort of like anti-reflective coating in a few of the shots...

Wish the pics were better I could try again outdoors tomorrow My cell phone camera isn't the best.
