But under that logic we should be upset about pictures of garden hoses on the cover of Planters because there is some one somewhere who have bad intensions about that hose. Who are those people? What are their intensions? What pervs... getting excited about a hose.
Or if you want to make it about people only then underwear catalogs. We used to snicker at those when i was 8 or 10. Sears & Robuck should be jailed!
Bifurcator raises a good point. Pedophilia is a psychological disorder, and if we are banning photos to help deter people with psychological disorders than other styles of photos should be outlawed also. Making the argument that one photo of an underage child is more likely to encourage pedophilia in general is like saying pornography raises the people who watches its libidos. And in my opinion, as the old cliche goes, that's putting the cart before the horse.
I don't believe that a photo of an underage child will encourage a person to become a pedophile, just as I don't think seeing a photo of a sheep or other animal would encourage a person to become a zoophile.
I think any immorality of the photo is limited to the feelings the
subject has about said photograph. Now I
could wholeheartedly believe that as this model matures throughout life and understands more about human sexuality, she might find the event of her being photographed to be traumatizing. But as far as encouraging foul behavior by the masses or even to those predisposed to pedophilia, no. Without divulging any details, I can personally understand how a situation which seems innocent to a six-year old child, can be sick and horrifying to a sixteen-year old child. And memories never disappear.
And from a legal standpoint I think if she (the child) ever wants the photo taken down, even 10 years from now, it should be done. If a nude model release signed by the parents of a six-year old is legally valid (which if you really think about it, this in itself raises some questions), the minor in the photo should at least have enough input on the situation to disallow a photo of her own body, whether he or she happens to be six or sixty.
