What's new

pumpkin baby, CC please

yea, the arm thing didnt work out like that wanted to, but im not going to clone it out bc i dont want them to feel like theres something wrong.

I'm betting they would have no problem with it... You could present them with both options and let them choose.
:thumbup::thumbup:
Try it. They may like it.. Show them with and without.. Especially if it didnt work out they may be a little regretful of cutting those holes, so they may light up when you show them what can be done in photoshop. Ya know?

Remove the "My Photos Are NOT OK to Edit" from your profile. It is much easier to show you than just tell you.

you go ahead, i dont want everyone doing it but have at it. PM it to me and ill post it if u dont feel comfortable. thanks

With Lightroom, I painted over the face and hands with a light blue to counter the orange in the face. Took about 20 seconds.

overall how are they?
Overall, i think theyre good. And youve done well with composing the shots, imo.

i just tried it and it didnt turn out too pretty, was a lot harder to clone than i thought  then again, im in the beginning stages of this editing stuff
LOL, :lmao: Practice makes perfect. This( the pumpkin) would be a good candidate to practice on.

Are you talking the white spot on top of the head? It's blown out... Must have been getting hit hard by the sun.

..... and they werent just snapshots, i tried... but thanks
I suggest to try harder next time then, if you want to step your game up a bit.

Absolutely nothing wrong with these for memories and keepsakes. Your sister/brother should love them.

tomorrow, try waking up on the other foot man. this is a beginners forum, who said i want to step up my game?

secondly, this was rushed, all these shots taken within 5 minutes... the amount of time he was willing to remotely sit still in that pumpkin. i couldntve tried any harder, i dont plan to go taking pics and half ass anything, i did the best i could with my minimal equipment and natural lighting.

im sorry they dont hold up to your standards but im not here to impress you nor anyone else, i understand i asked for C&C, but tellin me to try harder doesn't mean jack shyt to me, however something constructive like those above would help.

and what are photographs of family? memories and keepsakes. i dont try to sell my photos, not potraits anyways,

-------------Aw hell, I tried to edit me last response in BOLD but apparently lost the message. Who wants to step up their game in the BEGINERS forum............ I'd think most. Where you at? Lost and confused? hehehe Just because you are in the Beginners forum doesn't mean you won't come face to face with people that won't stroke your ego. Would you like to stroke my monkey instead?

More to come if you want to fool around.

so my sister and her husband thought itd be cute to buy a big pumpkin and put my 6 month old nephew in it for a little photosession, i figured id be nice and try my best with my d40.

heres a few i got. CC please. i know my focal points are a little off.

i have a real hard time trying to manually focus my 50mm/1.8, im not sure why but its a big PITA. especially when a lil baby isn't the most still of subjects

45 views and not a single critique, you suck, your pics fail, or anything? wow.

Nice day out with the kid and a few snapshots.

Relish these times because next week they'll be expecting you to pay the bar tab.

YOU asked the question. I only answered in MY opinion. What else would you like?

I think it's poor posture to post asking for C&C then get defensive.

I'm not trying to be malicious, simply observing that you threw words around like "semi-professional," which doesn't mean just having a DSLR it means transcending snap-shots, which people were pointing out, these do not.

I'm not saying I could have done better and typically I'd glance over this, but its been brought up enough how frustrating individuals posting for help then contradicting themselves are.

i was just trying to be nice and take some semi-professional lookin shots.

who said i want to step up my game?

??

Obviously you did, because you're here looking for criticism.. it's a big boy forum check your defense mechanisms at the door.

neither one of yall bother me, but i just think the harshness is a little unneccessary without any technical reasons as to why they suck, herein lies my issue. have it as u see it, i could really care less, but if ur going to critique it, give me ways to make it better.

and they are semi-"better", compared to the pictures they took, and were planning on taking. i didnt set it up, i went and snapped these pix within 5-10 minutes.

All in all, good concept, good composition, poor execution.

#1 is your best, but the holes in the pumpkin are a big distraction.

#2... the drool is, well... for a lack of a better term... disgusting.

#3. The baby just looks uncomfortable and again, the holes in the pumpkin are a distraction.

#4. Your best in terms of getting my interest, but the baby just looks miserable. The horizon line is also crooked.

I don't know why you are getting so defensive about this...especially since in your very first reply you even asked people to just say "you suck, your pics fail" even if they don't have anything else to say. You asked for the harsh critique, yet you don't want to listen to it?

Its an unpaid shoot for a family member. If I were you, I'd take some of the criticism a little closer to heart, go out and buy another pumpkin myself and reshoot it. If you can't keep the baby still for 10 minutes, shoot as long as you can, take the baby out and then come back later. Its not like the customer is paying by the hour.

^ this is the kind of CC i expect, while u dont like it, you give reasons, thats all. as a beginner, i cant get any better by just hearing "try harder". thanks.

he is a baby so i wasnt concerned about the drool, babies drool so i didnt find it too disgusting.

I think the background is distracting, I would have moved them closer to the fence, forget about the mulch landscaping in the yard, it does not add anything to the photo except branches coming out of the baby's head.
Reshoot this over where the fence is the background, do NOT put the pumpkin touching the fence, pull it back several good feet, more if needed.
I like 1 and 2 and it took me awhile to figure out why I did not like the others, then it clicked because the others, the mulchy landscaping is showing.

And teenage boys tend to have a lot of crusty tube socks laying around their room, but that dosen't mean you should take a picture of it.
