Q. about backlit portraits

Whenever I have tried to backlight a portrait, or or both ears wind up glowing. Here is an example.

This was a test with one strobe behind me for backlighting/rimlighting and reflector in front. While I like the look (with tweeks), I can't stop the glowing ear effect. How do people deal with this?

Raise the height of your rim light, have him turn his head slightly, or snoot it to tighten the beam and keep it on the hair.

Use a snoot to tone down the light.
