No. You assign each individual flash to a "Group" and the groups are configured on the commander. The SU-800 allows 3 groups, I think, as does the D7000, D7100, and D90 built-in commander. If you want to configure every single flash individually you'll probably have to use manual mode.

Also keep in mind that the Nikon SU-800 and bodies with built-in commander mode probably only work with Nikon speedlights. I don't know if they will work with other brands or not.

And the built in capabilities are at the mercy of line of sight and excessive light. Try to use one around a corner or on a sunny day. I dare you.

I'm wondering if i put one of these things on my d3200, how many remote flashes can i set off at the same time with it? If you own one of these Yongnuo things and Yongnuo flash guns, could you give me a play-by-play of how this exactly works?

This is hardly a specific question.

If speaking of simple radio triggers, than any number, as many as you have flashes and radio triggers. Or additional flashes could use optical slave triggers (Yongnuo slave mode S1) and join the party. This will all be manual flash mode, and so if using more than one manual flash, a hand held light meter is extremely useful to get all the flashes power levels set right.

You could use the YN622TX to control your YN622n receivers, and have 3 channels of control.


that combo would allow you to use your SB-800 off camera with full control from the camera.

i have half a dozen yongnuo 568Ex flashes and 622n triggers. they work great.
the yn622n triggers will support 7 flashes firing at once, and up to 3 channels.
not as many as pocket wizards, which support 52 flashes at once, but the yongnuo triggers are $80 a pair as apposed to $400 a pair.
i have used them for a year or so now and have yet to have either a flash or trigger fail me or the wife, even under fast paced wedding conditions.
we also use them as portrait lighting with 40" softbox umbrellas and 43" brollys with great results.

I have 4 of these triggers and they work well. They will not however let you use TTL auto so they are manual only. That is not as big of a deal as you might think. Make sure that you specify that they are for Nikon when you order them. You stick one of them on the camera hot shoe and mount the flashes on the other ones. Make sure all of the triggers are turned on. When you take a picture the trigger on the camera sends a radio signal to the other triggers and they fire their flashes.

I have found them to be extremely reliable. the YN568EX flashes are TTL and HSS compatible, and the 622n triggers are also TTL compatible.
