Question about which lens to use

I'm just curious about what lens you use the most. Specifically when just walking around or if you could just take the body and one lens? I have a cannon T3i but I'm am more interested in what most people use the majority of the time.

I find myself using my 55-250 mm but I have a 17-55 mm as well.

70-200mm f/2.8 VR. My #1 lens. Although lately, I have been using the 70-300 VR a fair bit. Smaller, lighter, easier to pack, decent optics too.

Up untill a month ago when I acquired a 55-250 for cheap it was a 75-300 sigma with "macro"

The canons focusing distance is actually comparable so I use that now

My main walk-around lens was a 24-85 mm f/2.8-4 that also had a 1:2 macro capability from 35 mm to 85 mm, but I usually wore a backpack on a walk-around and had at least 2 more lenses, and a speedlight or 2.

The 2 additional lenses were a 12-24 f/4 and a 80-200 mm f/2.8.

Yep main lens used most on walkabouts for me has been the 55-200vr. Outstanding optics for the price of $125 used for me. As have two of them. And for preferred range it's compact and light and less obtrusive out and about.

Decent optics in comparison to what? Not to 70-200 f/2.8 VR obviously.

I bet it also depends on where you are "walking around." In some urban situations 70-200 will either be a must or it will be completely useless. Same goes for some cases out in the wilderness.

The 70-200 f/2.8L IS II is my favorite lens to go out with, but I probably use my 24-70 more for shooting in cramped situations and the wide end.

Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 OS on my crop and my Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 on my full frame.
I've been carrying a setup with a 70-200 on it for so long that I don't notice the weight anymore.

My general walk-around lens is usually the EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS. If I know or strongly believe I won't be needing anything very wide, I'll sometimes go with the EF 70-200mm f/4 L IS insted.

35mm prime or a 12-24mm.
I like shooting in tight places.

I leave a 28mm - 200mm on my Nikon digital. It's and older lens I used to use on my Nikon 35mm. I use it for a majority of my pictures. I do have a couple of others but this one works in a surprisingly large number of situations.

My favorite walk around is still the EF-S 18-135 I used to have on my crop body Canon. Its only limitation was speed. So I replaced it a EF 24-105 L and love it! But sometimes that 'extra reach' on the 18-135 end came in very handy.
