Question about Windows 7 from a long time XP user (talking My Pictures folder)

Question for amateur/pro photographers: I'm an XP user looking for a good software program for running slide shows of images. I would like to know if Windows 7 will allow you to run a slide show in random/shuffle mode when you're running a slide show in My Pictures. You can't run a slide show in shuffle mode with XP, there are no options for that. Unfortunately a user is forced to run all images in sequential order.

Without Googling it, I'm sure there's some freeware that can do it.

I didn't quite understand the question but if it was "Can you view your pictures in a "random" slideshow via windows 7" the answer is yes. Just Open up any picture and click the slideshow button. It will start playing all the files in the same folder. Then simply right click during the slideshow and select "Shuffle".
