I'm thinking of buying a B&W circular polarizer filter but a relative happens to have one made by "Pro Optic". The labeling is PRO OPTIC 77mm C-PL Made in Japan. I'm wondering if this is a good quality filter. I have Hoya UV filters on my newbie lens but I got a B&W UV for my L glass.

I want to take some outdoor photography. Maybe some water, maybe some skies. Anyone have experience with Pro Optics?

Edit: Nevermind. I'll just buy my own. http://www.adorama.com/PRO77CPL.html No indication of Multi Coated. How do I delete this...

You can't delete the thread, but you can delete all but 1 period (.) of what you typed by editing the post.

The CPL you linked to at Adorama is essentially a CPOS that has no coatings, and it will likely cause image quality issues with your photos.

The glass in inexpensive filters is usually not flat, not optically clear, and is mounted in aluminum. When aluminum is in contact with other metals electrolysis can occur. Electrolysis causes corrosion which can later make separating the 2 materials difficult.

The B+W CPL you linked to is weather sealed, and is multi-coated. The glass is mounted in brass which does not react with dissimilar metals like aluminum does.

In other words, you usually get what you pay for.
