Question on the camera battery.

I just received my Canon 7D today and Might I say its a beast compared to my Rebel T2. I was reading the manual and it said to take the battery out when not in use. I sometimes go a couple of weeks with out using it. So should I take the battery out? Does leaving the battery in the camera harm it other then it slowly loses charge? Thanks in advance

In my experiences leaving the battery inside will end up with it draining down some - I put this down to the fact that the camera trickles out power to keep the viewfinder active (if you look through the viewfinder with and without a battery you'll get a shock when there isn't one inside!).

Otherwise its only for very long term that you should worry about leaving the battery inside - think months and months of continuous no use.
