Questions using D90 as commander for SB-600

WOW thanks guys... last 3 posts summed it up perfectly. I use the CAMERA to choose the settings and it will relay the info to the flash. And that only took me an entire day to figure out. Thanks for the help and patience guys. For some reason I thought I had to control the flash power on the flash and that the camera would not control it when using it off camera.

IIRC (it's been a while since I used CLS) You change the power setting using the D90's Commander Mode menu, not the speedlight menus.

That was the missing link last night. I haven't used CLS much of late either. :blushing:

Haha yeah I never quite got that from all the discussion and checking of the manuals. Now it all makes much more sense to me.

This is a good tip for strobists.

Set your Fn button to "My Menu". Go into "My Menu" and set the top slot to "Built in Flash Control", make sure that is set to commander mode.

FYI CLS means Creative lightning system. this isn's a specific flash,Camera or unit.
CLS is the name for every Nikon unit that is compatible with the CLS.
(Nikon D80+, Nikon SB-6/7/8/900 and Nikon SU-800)

When the camera is trigging the flash it's called... ehm does this have a name?
