Any recommendations on what would be good here?

If it matters at all, it's for a Nikon D300. I'm looking for a solution that I can rely on (camera won't fall off) so I can quickly switch from a standard strap to a blackrapid or similar.

Thanks!

OPTech camera straps are quick to clip on and off - good quality and certainly comfortable. The two ends that attach to the camera body itself have a opposite connection points so they can be joined together (giving you a short strap, but more importantly it stops the two ends flapping around and getting in the way).

I like my Lowepro strap, it has quick disconnects on either end, a neorpene neck pad, and has a little velcro pocket for 2 CF cards, I always have it stocked, and thank god, because on more than one occasion I left my big CF card inthe computer and went out for a shoot and didnt bring any extras. I wish the neck pad was a wee bigger, but overal I have been happy with it.

I will drop by the Crumpler store and check out that 1st strap but to be honest I don't want my camera to be suspended in clips.... i can see a disaster waiting to happen unless the system is just way too good

After seeing the black rapid strap, I think I would go that route. is there ever a time when there isn't gear I want, I swear its never ending.

I recommend the black rapid straps, they are so much more comfortable.

These are what I have on my cameras. And most of the time, I do have the main part of the strap removed and just use the 'short strap' around my wrist. Sometimes I put two padded sections onto one camera's strap, so that I can wear it across my chest.

Ain't that the truth lol.

Just bought the blackrapid the other day and now looking at tripods lol

Yes this was one of my concerns as well, actually... I was thinking some sort of steel-based version would be more appropriate, but I haven't found anything like that.

What I'm looking for is something to allow me to easily flip between a BlackRapid and a standard strap... but now I'm wondering if maybe I should be looking for one of those hand-brace types or something. Dunno.

Or... maybe... if I use a BR type strap... maybe that's really all I need? I dunno. Frankly it freaks me out having a screwed-in strap rather than a strapped-on strap.

IM SO CONFLICTED!!!

A hand brace? You mean a wrist strap?

For a wrist strap I use a canon E1 on both my 400D and 7D (you need a battery grip to fit these) and I assume similar designs exist for Nikon - put to put it simply they are great. Takes a lot of strain and worry off handholding the camera; esp when you are walking around and just want the camera arm to hang limp and rest a while.

Also you know OPTech straps are the best because every forum has them with their name printed on them - even TPF had them at one time!

Well, I am waiting on the blackrapid to get here so I can try it out... personally i hate the idea of a strap around the neck so I think the blackrapid will be all i need until I see something which will start my desires once again haha

I have the ebay version of the double black rapid strap. which cost 4 time less and does the same. it did put them side to side with the real black rapid and its the SAME. instaid of the B rubber sign on it its a Q for the Quick strap. its a real joke
