Quick Hummingbird Shot C&C Appreciated

Those are gorgeous photos. I will take those suggestions and see what can be done; the ones hitting my feeder hit it quick and fly off. One male hits the feeder, backs off a foot or so, repeats, etc. Maybe I can catch him backed away from the feeder sitting at a different angle. I don't want to sit out in our hot sun right now since I'm wearing a post surgery neck collar for awhile longer. Sitting in the shade is much nicer and cooler!

One thing that may help is back button focus. Focus on a spot on the feeder that will be even with the hummer when it backs away. Then just shoot away without having to worry about trying to catch a hummer with auto focus.

Bill, waited until this hummer backed away from the feeder and managed to get this snapshot a few days ago...

I can sit no closer than about 4-5 feet away from the feeder with my zoom so I try to keep my zoom around 200mm while using my camera's flash. I managed to take this photo without a flash and a bit more zoom using available light on a cloudy late afternoon...
