I think a 24mm 2.8 $309 @ B+H or a 28mm 2.8 $209 @ B+H might be a little more appropriate for your needs. Along with the 70-300 you will have a good range covered. Alot of people here promote the 50 as the end all be all of lenses but for digital a 24 or a 28 would be more appropriate because that will give you less of a telephoto than the 50 will. Sorry to add to your confusion but I can say one thing definitavely STAY AWAY form the 18-200 and especially the 55-200 I'm not sure where you are buying them but if it is online you need to hold the 55-200 to see how cheap it is.
