Yes I was turning it so I had the darkest blue effect. It was darker than without filter.

But in RAW I could postprocess it as dark as the filtered one, without filter.

True, however I submit that when you take that digitally altered image and print it to say, 8x10 / A4 you will see an awful lot of processing-induced noise and artifacts which would not be there in the images with the filter. If you don't like them, don't use them, it's that easy, but remember, there has to be a reason that photographers pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for CPOLs.

I would still like to know where the sun was relative to you when the pictures were taken. This image:

is one I took in Crete earlier this year, and it shows just about the maximum possible sky effect you can get with a CPOL under ideal conditions.
