Racetrack Playa

I shot this when I only had my old olympus on me and I'm really unhappy with the noise and quality, I'm heading back up in a week or two to reshoot with the 40d and would like to hear some comments on what to improve. I'm planning on staying long enough to get both a dawn and dusk shot. I'll probably play around at night with some strobes as well. Any comments welcome.
