Raincoat for my camera :D

I recieved a rain proof cover for my camera today which I ordered ages ago, and as luck would have it, the forecast is for showers all week The number of times I have walked down my street and seen the river of water running down and thought to myself . "That would make a great photo" If I could afford it, I would have invested in an environmentally sealed camera, maybe one day.

I find a plastic bag over the camera and a rubber band holding it over the lens opening works fine and the price is right.

Yep, rain sleeves are a good idea. Another approach is to go to Goodwill and buy a kid's rain coat or jacket. Run the lens through the sleeve (and cut it off you need to shorten it). Then put the body of the coat over the camera body and your head. This works very well for things like outdoor dog agility trials or football games where it's raining, you're probably on a portable stool (so not moving) and taking hundreds of exposures from your position.

I used to use a plastic bag, cuz I wuz CHEAP.
But the camera raincoats actually work, and work much better than a plastic bag.

But, I do NOT shoot in the RAIN. If it RAINS, I pack up and don't shoot or go home.
I don't have an employer who will replace rain damaged gear.
As the saying goes: discretion is the better part of valor.

Being a hobby and not a job does mean that I can do as ac12 says. I don’t want to pressure and hassle of having to get images done to a time limit. This is the one hobby that I can do! Even when I hurt like hell and can’t get out. I have had days&projects that have got to the stage where they were just hard work and no longer enjoyable so it was time to stop. As ac12 says no one is paying for the kit #from being self employed in the past I know that those of you earring living as photographers have to pay for tools/kit but job costing should include W&T here some tools can be written off against tax#
I imagen that I am not alone in that I have had kit break and had to save, wait until I could afford repairs/replacement
However, adding to the idea of protecting your camera in the rain. Add a uv filter if you don’t use one this will keep rain off the front element. That and invest in bags of silca gel to absorb the/any moisture on or in your kit

I bought a cheap ebay cover and used oilskin wax to make sure it was waterproof.
