I was lucky. He makes chandeliers out of antlers, so he had one sitting on the floor behind him which made that beautiful light coming over his shoulder and lighting the bottom of his hat..

Nice, I like the b&w version. The background almost seems like a Studio backdrop! Did you consider cloning out the light in the upper right corner and seeing if it cleaned the image up? Once I noticed it my eye kept sliding up to it.
