I assume even with the suit you are still dropping at some rate, he cuts that one point really close to earth, imagine what a few feet down would have looked like?

I agree with falling at the same rate. However, for a brief period he might be able to convert his forward motion into a slower rate of decent.

same rate as what? A free falling person who just jumped off the cliff with no wings? He's descending at a substantially slower rate than someone free falling because he's converting so much of his downward energy into forward energy via wings + wind resistance. If he wasn't slowing his rate of descent so much, the only forward energy he would have had was what he got in his initial leg jump, which was about 8 feet. He landed what looks like several thousand feet away from where he jumped.

yes but he can't go UP, only change the rate of his fall by conversion. SO, if he miscalculated only a little bit....splat. I think, from his reaction he was well aware he came close to biting it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Awesome clip and crazy stunt. Probably noone ever tries again

Theoretically it might be possible for him to briefly go upwards, though it's hard to know if that's actually possible with the suit.

No, because the bullet has lots and lots and lots of forward energy to begin with. Not the same at all. His only initial forward energy is from his legs. And unless he's some super freak of nature, he couldn't have jumped outwards several thousands of feet.

Think about it, the whole reason the bullet falls at the same rate regardless of being shot or dropped is because the downward energy is the same, but the shot bullet has a lot of added forward energy via the gun.

Energy isn't free. Unless you're claiming he was shot from an invisible canon, that energy came from somewhere that hurled him forwards thousands of feet. It came from converting his downward potential energy into forward energy.

It's like you don't fall at the same rate going down a slide as you do if you jumped off the top, even if the slide was purely frictionless, because the slide is converting some of the downward acceleration into forward acceleration.

pretty cool but as said, walking a bit to close to death for me. i remember first seeing this last year or wehenever it came out and they were doing fly bys over and under bridges and one of the guys hit the bridge and died.
