Rebel XSi, kit lens (18-55mm) and fireworks. HELP!

Here is one example photo of fireworks I photographed on 30 December (two days ago).

That's a great picture. By the time I figured everything out and got set up (I couldn't even get my tripod open.... ) the big ones were over. My husband and our friends were laughing at me because I was making them wait for me so I could get my timer ready for when they set off those little ones, and I kept grabbing the kids by their hoodies so they wouldn't walk in front of the camera. It was a lot of fun, if nothing else. I was good for a laugh. :thumbup:
