Does anyone know a recovery program that can recover raw files? every program i have tried brings em back as jpeg.

That's actually fine. Try going into windows explorer (or your mac version) and all you need to do is rename the file from xxxx.jpg to xxxx.CR2 (for canon) or xxxx.NEF for Nikon.

That works for me.
