Red-Shouldered Hawk

Sooooooooooo, I'm on my way to Wal-Mart to get some bird seed and whatnots for my bird population and what do I see but this nice hawk sitting on a phone wire. I think to myself..self, if you go home and get your camera, will he still be here when you get back? Self was happy to discover he was still there, but unhappy no matter how close I got, he wouldn't fly. Still, he did give me two nice looks.

Nice shots. That happened to me a few weeks back. I kept getting closer and closer and closer until I was standing under it and the thing still wouldn't move.

I made a little clicking sound I use with other birds to get their attention and his head jerked around and he gave me a right cold staredown for about a minute, then as he had been doing before, took to staring at a group of doves feeding on someone's new seeding of winter rye grass. When I came back from Wal-Mart he was up high on a utility pole eating something.
