This might be a dumb question but I thought i'd ask.

I've been getting more into dlsr video and wanting to play around more with lighting. I have a Camray 300 strobe but the modelling light isn't strong enough to make an effect in video. The currently the strobe has a 130v 60 watt bulb. I was wondering if I could replace the bulb with something brighter. I found a 150w Soft White Compact Fluorescent bulb and the bulb says it only uses 40 watts and needs 120 volts. In theory it should work (or am I out for lunch?). I put the bulb in my strobe and turned it on. Light up great! Just what I needed.

So my question is: Is this a no no?

There's a slight humming sound from the bulb. Is that something bad? Everything else seems fine. I just want to make sure that it won't blow out or destroy my strobe light.
