Reptile Portraits for C&C

Just picked up the Canon Rebel XS this morning, and decided to try taking a few portrait pics of my two turtles and my bearded dragon tonight. C&C welcome and appreciated.

Ohhhhhh I like these a lot!!!

#1 & #6 are my favorite.

#1, I love the composition, and how you incorporated he reflection into the photo.
#2, I feel like it was either cropped to short, or not cropped enough.
#5, I don't like the straight on shot and the lighting bothers me.
#6, I like how he/she is looking right at us.

You have the exact same thoughts as me on #2 and #5. I should've gotten him completely in the frame on #2, and I'm not crazy about the orange lighting on #5 either.

I still think #2 can be saved if you do a close crop. Try it out, what do you have to loose. =P

Nice.. #1 and #3 are excellent. Be careful when framing.. don't cut of claws or feet (or tails) just to get a shallow depth of field.. unless you're going for a closeup like with #3.

Great work, grats on the new XS - looks like you'll be putting it to good use.

I like the red eared slider shots the most. My only critique is that the lighting is a little harsh in some of them and I don't like the angle in number 5. Great shots though.

I really like these shots. I love the reflections they add emptyness into the frame, in a good way don't worry. I think for your first photos with the camera these are great. I'd love to see more and I love your edit schwetty.
