Not exactly Macro, but I think this might be the right place for it...

Yes, I like the ring. The way the hand is positioned makes her fingers look really short. I would have like this more of a "macro" shot. The way it is right now is not very detailed. Where you using a macro lens?

Nope, kit lens. I did what I could. FWIW, her fingers ARE really short I wish I had a macro lens though, that would make for a lot more diversity.

honestly, im not really a fan of ring shots with the rings on someones finger. always looks a little odd to me. that set is identical to my wifes wedding set. hers is in platinum. not sure if those are platinum or white gold.

It's not a set, but they are white gold, I'm not made of money here! Between the two, I still put out a pretty penny

I'll see if I can pry them off her finger for a different faux macro attempt. Probably with the 75-300 full zoom at about 4.5 ft

Yeah, try that and see how you like it. Get a little creative and maybe string them on something or laying them out on a solid surface stacked in a unique way or something like that.

In the end, I learn that to do macro, you really need a macro lens Here's the best out of the most recent attempt:

I'm thinking I really should give it another go with longer shutter and maybe something like f/16 to minimize the DoF - help me really be able to get it in focus...thoughts?
