River - First time using Lee Big Stopper - C&C

Hi All,

I was just camping in Washington, CA and took some shots at the river there. This was my first time using my new wide angle lens AND the Lee Big Stopper. I mostly do macro shots of flowers and am very comfortable with that, but I want to do more landscape stuff and this is definitely foreign to me.

Looking for some C&C on these -- I know what I would do different next time but I'm always curious to see what others think. Let me first say that I did not have a tripod (couldn't find it in time, darn!) and I also thought my shutter release/timer was in my bag and it was not so I could only do a 30 second exposure at most and this was problematic as I started losing light, so some of these are on the darker side but I almost don't mind it. I definitely also have some dark edges/vignetting going on in some of these too.

Thoughts?

a good start! the big stopper is definitely a tough one to get used to.

personally I like 2 and 5 the best.

It looks like your having a bit of a hard time with your white balance though, the big stopper gives a cast that you have to correct in post. but 3 and 4 look very blue, 5 is a little purple, and six has some very strong yellow in it. try to get it a bit more consistent!

Oh yeaaahhhh, now I remember reading about the color casts and you are right, a few of them aren't just dark they have a blue cast. I will go back in and see if I can correct it. Thanks!

Ive always wanted a big stopper... I only have 2 ND grads. hard and soft .9's -have to wait untill dawn or dusk to get really long exposures.
