If you live in NYC, you are a lucky person.
That is one of the most photo rich environments in the world.

These are OK from an exposure and framing standpoint but they are totally unexciting or original.
The first three are essentially the same picture - repetitive shapes at a sort of angle.
The fourth picture could be better and more dynamic but the figure is too small in the frame and too central. If you change your profile to allow editing, I show an example.
The fifth picture is many small streams of falling water - again, shot at an angle.

You have the technical stuff working for you just fine. Now get some imagination going.

The main center of interest should be off-center and could be balanced by the two onlookers.
I think he should be much bigger in the frame but there needs to be more space above him so he doesn't looked squashed by the border.(my additions are rough, sorry. Not too much detail to work with)
Open up the dark shadows, make it a bit warmer. On second look this may be waaaay too warm.

I was expecting to see something that says New York City. A very long line of taxi cabs might have done the trick, streets lined with skyscrapers, crowded sidewalks, etc.

Not necessarily, it's that these pictures have nothing of any real interest to capture and show.
Why would anyone care about this falling water?
What is that you see is interesting to you?
There are billions of pictures of New York or any big city; why not look at what other people have shot for some ideas?

i no there are nothing really unique about them, i was riding the citi bikes and renting them. so idk if you no how they work but you dont have that much time before you park up...i dont go into city much but i am also tryna figure out on my own how to work things with a camera. im still very new and learning but i appreciate your thoughts. i do see alot of unique things but just tryna figure how to make them clever i guess.
