Sailboats - C&C please (2 photos)

I shot a bit at a marina at Kerr Lake in NC over Memorial day weekend, and I was wondering what you all thought of a couple of my final (for now) products.

Both were shot with my T2i using, of all things, the Canon kit lens. : )

The first one looks crooked.
I don't like the vignetting on the second.

#1 i like but it's slanted a bit down to the right. #2 doesn't do much for me, just not a fan of the perspective or the vignetting.

Oh , too funny about the first one... I edited it while wearing one contact lens. Ha!

I do like the second one, the vignetting is a bit too much, but I like the mood, it has a very impending storm/calm before the storm vibe to it. I dig that.

Vignetting ruins photos. Don't use it, its worse then selective coloring.

Disagree, a subtle vignette draws the eye to the centre of the shot and can be very effective when used right. Excessive vignetting does ruin photos though...
