Thank you Bruce. At this point I try not to think of the lighting too much other than coming from generally left, right, front or back directions. Possibly, as I start shooting for this type of work and specific pieces, continuity may come into play. For now however, I'm reasonably satisfied with just getting the images assembled. An argument for the somewhat mixed light is, as you mention, getting the viewer to spend more time looking at it.
