1st is the edit and second is sooc. Think I screwed it up from the actuation of the shutter.

Detail loss is caused by exposure though... not vibrant or saturation.

Depends HOW you go about saturating. Using RGB mode, the color and luminosity are on the same channels so altering the saturation, also alters that data and can cause detail loss/issues if overdone. Using LAB mode, you can adjust color seperately from luminosity.

Here is a very good page to show examples. If you can get by the fact that he spells color "COLOUR".

Lab Colour Saturation compared to RGB Saturation

That damn British English!

Thanks Taylor ... I'll read it later tonight.

This images is balanced well, there is the over sat blow-out in that red that others have commented on, but this is minor of the rest of the shot is as you like it.

I think that skin tones are really the indicator on weather an images is "too far" or otherwise. The colors do pop but its looks balanced with the scene and with the subjects skin.

and really, something like sat/vib in this instance is really subjective. :)

Does it matter if colours clip on the charts in PS or LR? Half my photos when loaded into them untouched are already clipping.
