This ones been stuck in my head for while, so today I trekked off to the local Goodwill in search of an interesting book. 50 cents later and this is what pulled together. Thoughts are always most welcome.

I like the concept, but the book, the glasses and the oil lamp are from three very different periods. Find a pair of 50s vintage glasses and an appropriate-era coffee mug and I think you'd be on to something (As much of something as anyone who finds calculus interesting can be that is)

Book: copyright 1912
Oil lamp: Passed down from my Great Grandmother
Glasses: $2.00 Drug Store readers...Busted!

I think it would merit a redo after a trip to the antique Store

I really like it though I do have a love/hate relationship with calculus!

I appreciate tiredirons point but for me the three objects coming from different times in the past is not an issue, it just means it's dated from now as opposed to being a vintage photo which we know it isnt anyway. Just because stuff was made a few years back does not mean it's useless or irrelevant today.

Thanks for the input folks. Since this is the teacher addition, I thought maybe a vintage pipe lying along the right side of the book might make an interesting element.

No, it's good the way it is.

Compositionally odd numbers tend to work best, here you have three elements that work nicely together. Adding a fourth would skew the balance of the shot.

If you are really determined to include a pipe I'd just show it in the shadows top left. But make it so you can only just see it.

I am with weepete on this one, but you could try to replace the Oil lamp with a pipe, maybe have the reflection of the lamp on the side of the pipe somehow, or that could just be a dumb idea lol
