The deal fell through so I'm still looking.

If I do spring for the D800 it means

1) new learning curve
2) new peripherals (batteries, cards, grip, etc)




not ruling it out.

Didn't I just read in another of your posts that you were the kind of guy who had to have the best you could afford. So if you can afford a D800 then your decision is made, no?

From specs only I'm not convinced that the D800 is not a better camera than the D700. FPS aside, the D800 may be a more versatile instrument.
