Tried to put my Good Friday to good use. Also got another one that just made me laugh:
Nice. The pelican looks baffled by water in it's solid state, and the other bird (I have no idea what it is) looks just a little mad.
Awesome. I love white pelicans. They are HUGE. I love to watch them fly in flocks, they cooperate in a really cool way.

I have to admit I wasn't a pelican fan myself at first. There is a safari park near where I live and I use to go out there to shoot quite a bit (still do in fact) and they had a pretty sizable population of Pelicans as well as a lot of other birds. I spent an afternoon out there and watched the Pelicans, and the more I watched the more I realized how much personality they really have - ended up becoming a big fan. Most of them have migrated to warmer climes - but there are still a couple left in the area. Hoping I can get a few more shots of them before they pack it up and head south.. lol

They are some really cool birds. Here in south Mississippi we have browns and we get the migrating whites. They have just arrived, but are really shy.
Love the first one. It looks like it's trying to figure out how in the world to get to the fish underneath that whatever-it-is that is covering the water.
No pelicans around here but lots of geese and ducks get confused about ice as well. I love to watch them land on it, they even manage to get a "What The HELL?" look on their faces as they skid far further than they expected![]()
I caught a goose landing mishap quite some time ago before everything froze over, he hit the water and not sure what happened but he flipped over. Laughed my butt off - I did manage to get a picture but the DOF was a bit off, I was actually taking pictures of another bird when he came swooping into the frame and crash landed.. lol
