lol! I was a little ambiguous with my train of thought.

No, I meant how would you do a self portrait without a mirror? You'd use the timer which is just like someone else taking it. So if someone else took your photo through a mirror, would they have to be in the shot as well? No, of course not - so neither does your camera on the timer.

It makes sense to me, honest.
