Senior session for C&C

These were a couple shots I took from a senior session a while back.

I'm looking for a critique, what can I do to make them better?

In general, I like the composition in both images. It does feel like the first is tilted back slightly and the second could maybe be rotated a hair counterclockwise.

Neither is very crisp, seems you missed the focus in both shots--the first is better than the second in that respect. I prefer the lighting in the second shot.

I fell that the pose is a bit awkward in the second one and the background doesn't help that pose. The first one is nice but could be improved with Jenko's suggestions. Thanks for sharing, that is the way to improve.

+1 to what was said above. But also note that in #1, the eyes are really dark giving her "raccoon" eyes. It needs some fill for to help that, or turn her another way to get some light in her face.

#1 looks odd because the fence posts are not vertical, and some fill lighting would have helped to make the senior 'pop' from the background and be the undisputed center of attraction in the photo.

#2 - ditto on need for some fill light.

If you don't get the focus right, fixing the white balance and posing is like putting a bow tie on a turd.

Thanks for all the input guys!! I've just recently got some reflectors. So maybe that will help with the fill light. And I'm working on my focus, again thanks for your input!!
