Sensor spots on brand new camera....

Have you taken the lens off with camwra turned on ? Just get a cleaning kit and clean it I was for ever cleaning my 5D and 1D's but my Sony A7 I'm always changing lenses and never seen a sign of dust
I guess this is one reason I am so surprised! I used my nex 7 (which has no mirror to "protect" the sensor) for over a year before I ever noticed a speck of dust! I never took the lens off with the camera on. In fact the lens was never removed AT ALL until I noticed how bad the dust issue was!

I feel your pain The worst feeling as a owner of something new is when it doesn't meet your expectations and your not a technician. When I bought my 35-70 lens (eBay) it was horrible photos from it. spots galore. I thought it was my d7000 camera. wanted to just throw it in the trash and buy something else Then I did online research ... figured it wasn't the camera - other lenses didn't show spots on the images. then i learned more about looking at the lens itself. And I saw a layer of crude and spots on the outer lens element. Of course, then you want to throw the lens away. lol Then I learned how to clean the lens. And after several wet cleanings the slight layer of crude finally got completely off It's a feeling of despair of the unknown of why it isn't working as you expect it to. Without the experience, it's simply just not *easy* and not a *normal course* to just clean it. It takes time to understand (reading / videos) of how to clean a sensor or a lens element before you feel comfortable even attempting it. But once you do you then can clean anything on the camera.
I have the sensor swabs, and I cleaned my nex7 but AFTER it was out of warranty. I'm terrified I will ruin an under warranty camera and it will void the warranty....

Couple that with the fact that I TRULY did not expect to like the camera so much. The only other dslr I have ever used, was an xsi- which is clearly on a different level. The original plan was to get this, then later on, a FF a7 because I prefer lighter cameras. Now I'm wondering if I made a mistake not just getting one camera that can "do it all"

If I send this back, I can wait a few months and go ahead with a canon 5dmkiii and just need ONE set of lens's, instead of two.....

If you're having this much trouble with something that's brand new I'd be thinking about returning it; especially with a relatively large purchase I'd hate to have spent the money on it and right away be having a problem with it. From what you're describing I'm not sure I'd keep it since you'd have to decide while you still can to return it, depending on the store policies.

If you can afford something else within a few months maybe it would be better to return this and get something else. Or you could even get this used maybe and then upgrade later on. Even if you end up buying the same or a similar camera maybe this particular one would continue to be a problem if you keep it.

sadly, I think this is what I have decided. I even tried a wet clean, and I couldn't get it to budge.

I'm also thinking of saving up for the 5dmkiii instead. I think I will eventually want ff- so why prolong it buying another crop sensor??
