Setting up home studio

I'm setting up 2 small home studios within the same house. Why two? Long story, but it has to do with tax write offs. Anyway, I'm going to go with the 9' seamless paper as my backdrops. I really like the floor drops too, but can't find anything on the forums about them. That makes me nervous because I can usually find a wealth of information on any topic I search for on these forums. Does anyone have an experience with these floor drops?

Also, the rooms I'm using are pretty small. 10x10
Should I go with the 8x8 floor drops or the smaller 5x7? I will be shooting portraits.

You can measure the size of your frame by placing a tape measure on the floor to see if the smaller floor will work, or if you need the larger one. IMO, you need something on the floor, whether it's that floor product or just extend the paper down and under your posing chair.

We won't close on the house for another month, so I'm stuck trying to "imagine" things right now before I can actually have access to it.

Won't laminate flooring cause glare?

Not when correctly lit; my studio floor is polished maple hardwood and I've never had a problem. Remember: Angle of incidence = angle of reflection.

Only last question, as I really like the idea of putting together my own floors for a lower cost... there is currently carpet down in the rooms. Do I rip it up?

I wouldn't. Just put together a couple of floor panels (they're just click-together), add a little glue for strength, and when you want to use 'em, flop em on the floor, when you don't lean it out of the way against a wall.

You might decide to rip up the carpeting and do the whole floor, but that will be your decision. Meanwhile, you could assemble a small area of it for your posing area, and either leave it on top of the carpeting or take it apart until needed again. Personally, I think I would just do the whole room and be done with it.

Thanks! I think I will leave the carpet down for now and work with temporary flooring until I start bringing in income.
