I used a Canon 5DII, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8, Polarizer Filter and a Canon 580EXII Speedlite. (I was too lazy to bother with my lighting).

cool set! I think the lighting matches the mood you wanted... but you could have done better, and you know it! lol! Too Lazy.. what kind of excuse is that, man!

I was asking what was thought of the set, not for critique on the photos.

I liked the pose in number three. Maybe a couple shots from the perspective of the cocaine? I thought your models were pretty, but they did not look "high" after the "cocaine".... Overall I liked them.

On the first run through, I didn't even notice that the girl was doing "cocaine". This is due to the very inadequate lighting. I know you say "I was too lazy to set up my lights", but because of that, your message was literally lost in the darkness in some of your shots. The CPL only exacerbated the underexposure. You also said "The photos look alright with [the CPL] on", which is your opinion, and apparently not held by the other posters.

In shot #4, I can barely tell what she's holding. Is it an axe? It might as well be a broom, because the axe head blends in with the underexposure.

It almost looks like you used pop-up flash on these due to the harsh shadows behind the subjects.

I'm not at all sure what's going on in #3.

The missing patches on the wall, and the cups should probably be the least of your worries. I'd work on the fundamentals of exposure, and composition prior to fine tuning your scenes.

If you wanted C&C, you should at least have the mindset to not refute everything everyone critiques.

But I guess since you "got the effect you wanted" it doesn't matter what other, more experienced members may have to say.

Thank you for your criticism, remember this was just a practice shoot to see how the photos would turn out. Just a PRACTICE one.

Looks like another case of "i went ahead and bought really expensive gear so please tell me how good my crappy pictures are." Haven't seen one on here in ages!

I buy what I can afford, I would rather not waste my money on something less versatile.

From a technical standpoint, yes the lighting is not good enough.

From an artistic standpoint, that's exactly what you want. I've never been much of a partier, but I'm assuming that the person taking pictures are not worried about lighting. They just want to capture their buddy doing 5 lines and keg stands. I think these are great for what you're going for.

If this were stock photography, I think you'd have to fix the lighting.

I agree with all of this, I got the effect I wanted. I'm reshooting it with better lighting, etc later.

The WB in the first one is a too cool as well. You should re-shoot this with your lights set up sometime you're not too lazy

It's in LR too but I am assuming that you don't use that either because you would know what it is. What program are you using?

I'm using my camera and boost the color temp a bit with Windows Live Gallery, + or - shadows.

Thats it.

I'm just not keen spending hours on the computer editing photos, but I think I'll give it a shot and add another tool to my tool belt.

Here is my take. If I forgot to take off my polarizer or ND filter on this shot, I probably won't say anything about the filter. I am pretty sure you thought a CPL was going to help improve your image. I have done stupid stuff in my photography career too. But I don't buy it at all that you "forgot". I think you were mislead.

It was hard for me to put my finger on exactly what I didn't like about them, at first I thought "campy" but i normally love camp. I liked the image recently posted of the redneck Santa.It dawned on me this morning that he issue I have is that they aren't very convincing, they don't seem quite "trashy" enough, everything and everyone seem too clean - the women look like club kids, the kind you'd find at a rave party, not at a biker bar, they look like rebellious yuppies to me a innocent girls gone wild. I do

.I don't think you'd need to hire real junkies (though you could) to get this effect, but the direction and makeup just doesn't convey a sense of "sex drugs and rock and roll" to me.
