Well, for starters, controversial statements are a trigger of a debate themselves, as well as confrontational ones.

Saying people are too eager to argue, is an instigation of an argument in itself. But that's besides the point.

The opening statement in this thread is a fallacy, whatever the intentions of the thread may be, false information will trigger discussion.

If you really want to start a thread with out controversy, why not say "Post your best shot with a P&S"?

Well I am going to Argue that your Argument that my observation about said Argument is incorrect. The argument that the opening statement in this thread is a fallacy is in itself a fallacy since no statement of belief was everr made. Lets simpy substitute the premise with the word aliens. If the thread had been started with

I have heard that aliens exists. So please post pictures of them.

said statement makes no statement of the existance of aliens. IIt neither backs nor denies the statement "aliens exists". It simply asks to post pictures of them with the intent to examine the evidence. The OP opening statement neithet backs nor denies the statement that "the gear does not matter" which is at the root of your argument... a debate which was neither instigated nor a response requested.

Hence my observation that some posts are essentally looking for an argument... not that I intended to argue the argument.

Religion is a hot topic that instills a personal and emotional response. Aliens do not.... Ive been instructed to avoid such topics when used in what if scenarios.

I know! Threads are precious things! They should never be tainted!

Look a it like this, this is social function, regularly attended by friends, enemies, and clowns, often with a longer history than you realize. Stick around, participate lots, and you will be assimilated (star trek reference), and become one of the many (system shock 2 reference), just like MLeek has.
