Sharpening when resizing

If you resize an image is it always best to then re-sharpen it? I kind of assume that this is the case because of the way lightroom presents the sharpening when resizing option on export. Usually I just leave it on standard. What's the deal?

Depends, if its for web purposes then yes i do re-sharpen after the downsize. However if it needs to be resized for something else (larger than 800-900 pixels on the longest side) then i may not... depends how it looks at 100%.
