Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I always admire photos taken where I would feel uncomfortable taking my camera. Today we went to the library, I had my camera in my purse (gasp! yes! my D90 with a Sigma 24-70 2.8 lens and battery grip, my purse is HUGE!) and I pulled it out. It was very uncomfortable for me, I don't know why. I guess because my camera is so big and you hear that loud swoosh of the shutter (that I love, but I know others dont) but a funny thing happened. No one cared at all.

Here are some shots from the day.

Not too sure on the settings, they were changing as we changed and I put them as comps for my personal website, but I thought I'd share them here too.

All are ISO 800+ I know that much and shot at 2.8 shutter speed varried from 1/100 to about 1/125 but no higher then that.

It could be my monitor, but they all look a bit overexposed, and some of them look like there's some kind of haze over the pic.

They look the same here too.

I was thinking that was the style she was going for?

I'm wondering about the samething.

ababysean, what kind of post processing did you do? I kind of like it. :D

That is a possibility.

The little model seems to like the camera and she is a cutie. I don't know the rules at a public library as far as using flash or modifiers, but I would have tried to pose her to avoid the raccoon eyes from the overhead lighting.

I went for a cooler processing. I did add haze and since these are snapshots for my family, I ran a wildflower action.I did not use flash, I think that would have been rude and I live in a small town, my library is super small, so I couldnt really do anything else. Remember to shoot your snapshots too guys, not everything has to be magazine worthy. This exercise for me was more for getting my camera out where I otherwise would feel uncomfortable doing so. I am glad I did because not a single person cared or even looked my way.

oh and she hates the camera. lol I always have it in her face so in order for her to agree to photos, I had to allow her to wear her favorite Cinderella dress out in public. lol

getting kids to do what you want is like a hostage negotiation.my nephew always asks for a treat

All in all I like them all around. The left half of number 2 is just awesome. The way her is eye peeping over the top is just too cute.

Number 5 the right half just does not make much sense without some sort of background. I am assuming you are from Florida but one has to make the assumption.

Number 6 left part is good. I think it would be GREAT if she were looking at the book like the other "children". Maybe that one you can go back and capture.

Have to say you did well, a few of them have great expressions and expressions trump everything. Cool shots and glad you shared.

Shoot well, Joe

I am sure no one would get upset if you used a reflector just to toss a bit of fill light into the face.

I might next time, with a smaller reflector but not sure what light I'm going to reflect there are few windows and the lighting is really low and just plain ugly.
