I have been having problems shooting an object that is purple. It comes out not as bright as it's supposed to. Like dull colors. I've tried everything I could think of to get it right, but just can't figure it out. I am shooting with a Nikon D3000

Are you shooting in Jpeg or RAW?

What 'White Balance' setting are you using? Is your computer monitor calibrated?

It looks like you're using the camera's pop-up flash?

The photo looks underexposed. I corrected the exposure, cropped, adjusted the mid-tone contrast, added a bit of vibrance, a vignette, and a thin black border.
