Shooting cars at sunrise help

Hey guys, I'm shooting a car at sunrise, and I was just wondering what tips you guys have for me.

I have a 500d, yongnuo 460 ii flash, 17-40 f4L, and a tripod.

No external lighting.

i need tips for silouhette and having a nice clear picture of the car with the sunrising in the background.

You'll a lot more than 1 light, and some other gear to make "a nice clear picture of the car with the sunrising in the background."

Because of the Inverse Square Law, the portion of the car closest to the light will get more light than the part of the car furthest from the light. You'll also likely get some distracting reflections in the car windows and on the car body of the light mounted ion the hot shoe of your camera.

As far as doing a silouette the trick is going to be separating the car from any part of the background or foreground that is also dark. Using a speedlight set on the ground behind or under the car could help with that.
Spot meter the sky near the Sun to set your exposure and the car will be heavily underexposed and be a silouette. Unfortunately so will just about everything else except the sky. You can mitigate that somewhat by using a very low camera perspective so most of the background behind the car is sky.
