shooting highschool football and what lens?

Thanks for all the replies you have given me plenty of information. I'll stick with the 50mm and see what I can do as mentioned I can easily crop if I need to get closer. I'll give me 28-90 a try too and maybe just maybe i can capture some of the slower moments in football like the QB about to pass.


I just can't see myself askign my mom if we can put $8000 down as a deposit to rent a lens. Even $1000. She would just look at me and start laughing and say your joking right. And at a highschool with a bunch of kids do I really want to be responsible for someone elses gear? oh no i dont lol

my friend on the team just told me once a year they have a team of professional photographers come and take pictures at one of the games.
